Application: Agriculture
Being the largest producer of wines in Latin America, Concha Y Toro is one of the global leaders in its field. The company HQ is based in Santiago, Chile. The Concha y Toro wine estate is spread throughout Chile’s major wine regions: Maipo, Maule, Rapel, Colchagua, Curico and Casablance. The company was founded by Don Melchor de Santiago Conha y Toro and his wife, Emiliana Subercaseaux around 1883. Ironically, the first exported wine arrived in 1933 at the port of Rotterdam, where the 11D HQ is located.
Concha y Toro produces several varietals, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and Gewürtztraminer are their whites. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Carmenere are their reds. With an annual revenue of $ 947 million and over 3.500 employees, Concha y Toro has evolved into a very large but sensible company – caring not only for their profit, but also their people and our planet.
11D Latin America (www.11d-la.com) were approached by Concha Y Toro, to provide them with a solution to improve the operability of their vineyard equipment. Concha Y Toro operates a diverse portfolio of vehicles, which vary from quads, motorbikes, to large equipment.
During the high season, some of their vehicles are operated 24/7. All day every day. Concha Y Toro calculated that suffering from a single flat tyre, causes an operating loss of around € 2.000. Without even taking in account the cost of labor, reparation or any other materials.
New Holland Braud
The New Holland Braud is a harvesting machine, which can operate in vineyards with heights of 1.8M and up. Product deviants like extra-large frame models (used for wider canopies, like olive trees) are also quite common. The machine provides the best quality harvest with the best-in-class cleaning systems. The Bruad Grape harvesting system was first introduced in 1975 and is operated by Concha y Toro as well.
The Braud System offers an ingenious solution where the grapes are softly shaken to get them detached. With large R28 tyres, a tyre puncture is not easily repaired – especially when the machine is operated in the field.
